3/8" Double Flute Straight

ID: H07

The first bit in the H series with no bearing at all — no profile to follow, just a straight two-flute cutter for grooving and edge work guided by a fence or edge guide instead. 1/2” shank rules out the CNC outright: the X-Carve Pro’s ER16-A collet tops out at 3/8”.

Notes

No bearing means no bit-guided template work. Everything here is fence-guided or edge-guide-guided, which is also why it’s a hand/table-router bit rather than CNC tooling despite Freud rating it for CNC use generally — the toolpath does the guiding on a CNC, so a bearing or a fence doesn’t matter there, but it matters a great deal by hand.

Tips are relieved for plunge cuts, per Freud — this one can start a cut straight down into the material rather than needing to enter from an edge, useful for stopped grooves and mortises.

1-1/4” cutting length is generous for a 3/8” bit — deep enough for most mortise and groove work in a single setup without needing multiple passes at different heights.
