7/8" Carbide Hole Cutter
The first bit in the K series, and the first tool in the shop that isn’t a twist drill or a router bit at all. A carbide-tipped hole cutter with a permanently attached arbor, MK Morse’s own model CTS14, sold through Grainger under their own item number 36FV44 — the number stamped on the box, not the manufacturer’s.

Notes
3/16” cut depth is the whole story with this line. MK Morse calls this their “Shallow” CT Hole Cutter, built for fabrication work in sheet material, not for boring through anything thick. Grainger’s own listing claims 1/8” max cutting depth, which contradicts MK Morse’s own site (3/16”) and what’s printed on the packaging — trusting the manufacturer and the physical bit over the retailer’s listing here.
Built-in arbor means no separate arbor to lose. Unlike a classic hole saw that threads onto a reusable arbor, this cutter and its arbor are one piece — simpler, but the whole cutter goes in the toolbox together rather than an arbor living separately from a set of interchangeable saws.
Step-center pilot reduces breakthrough impact. The pilot drill (1/4” dia, 1-7/8” long) leads the cut and controls when the carbide teeth actually engage, which is what keeps a carbide tooth from chipping the instant it breaks through the back of thin stock.
Vendor here is Grainger, not MK Morse directly — Grainger’s item number (36FV44) is what’s on hand, cross-referenced to MK Morse’s own CTS14 model number for anyone reordering direct from the manufacturer instead.
