Made Kits Loom Tools
This set of weaving tools was a collab with Sarah at One-OneThousand. At the time, Sarah was hosting classes and meetups with area makers, including weavers. It was at one of these gatherings that we started discussing looms and tools. I set out to make a couple of laser cut acrylic tools, solving a couple of problems along the way like the yarn catch. Eventually Sarah went on to start a side business and brand called Made Kits which includes these tools and some looms I designed as well.
Making it
Everything is cut flat from acrylic sheet on the laser. The combs have a little finger hole so it’s easier to hold on to. The needles are cut in a few lengths for different jobs, and include an innovative yarn catch that makes it easy and fast to hold the yarn. A logo is engraved at the same time as cutting. Finishing included sanding the tips of the needles and the shed stick smooth, and removing burrs from edges.
